Our Sylvia Edwardian Walking Skirt is a timeless and whimsical, long, linen skirt perfect for a romantic Edwardian gibson girl costume.

An elegant and feminine skirt which sweeps to the ground, it is typical of the walking skirt styles worn from 1895 to 1908 in the era known as the Belle Epoque or the Gilded Age. Perfect for historical re-enactment, theatre, steampunk or just every day vintage style.

Made from a lovely quality, medium weight, 100% linen, the skirt features gored panels that skim the hips then flares out with pleating in the back for extra fullness with a sweeper train. The back is approx 4"/10cm longer than the front. The waistband fastens with a button and hooks and eyes, and there's an extra button for a little flexibility. The skirt is trimmed with a double narrow velvet ribbon band.



The linen is washable at 40c and I professionally serge the seams and stiffen the hem with a light crin braid. The skirt is unlined to help keep weight down and to allow it to be worn as a swishy summer skirt. We recommend adding a petticoat for period fullness or winter warmth.
