They are also just lovely to wear as an extra layer under skirts and blouses in the colder months.

The base for any good historical costume is the correct historical underwear to give the clothes the right shape and silhouette. The bloomers and chemise set is the ideal starting point for the fashions of 1890 to 1914.

Chemise: The base layer for the upper body and made from lightweight white or black cotton lawn with decorative eyelet ribbon which gathers up at the front to suit your bust. Your choice of ribbon colour.

Bloomers: White or black cotton lawn. Wide, knee length and finished off with lace at the bottom ( black on black or ivory/white on white), one row of eyelet ribbon and one row of scalloped lace edging. Choose between a traditional buttoned waistband for a smooth, unbulky fit or comfy, elasticated style. There is also the option to have the bloomers made as 'split leg' for more authenticity and to help with visiting the bathroom when wearing full period costume.
