The Vanessa linen skirt is a variation of the other ankle length Edwardian skirts available from Blue Lady Couture, but it makes a fab addition to your everyday wardrobe or a perfectly practical period costume.
Inspired by the 1890s costumes worn by Vanessa Ives in Penny Dreadful, it is a feminine, yet practical long skirt. Perfect for summer or wear with a pretty petticoat in colder weather. A gorgeous addition to your vintage inspired wardrobe. It is trimmed with a double band of black ribbon and velvet in a style very typical of skirts from the late Victorian and early Edwardian era.
Made from a lovely quality, medium weight 100% linen, the skirt features gored panels that skim the hips then flare out with pleating in the back. The waistband fastens with a button and hook & eyes, and there's an extra button to decrease the waist size by an inch. The length is even all the way round and is designed to finish between calf and ankle length depending on your preference.

This has become my favourite skirt, and honestly, the best skirt I've ever owned. It looks beautiful, the flow of the skirt is wonderful (including how she did the back pleating), the quality of the linen is great, and the inclusion of two buttons for fastening the skirt is good detail. The designer, Joanna, is very helpful in confirming and addressing questions. I've been gradually but surely adding 19th- and early 20th-century style clothes to my closet, and I see myself buying more from this shop in the future.
